China now tests world’s first 6G satellite

While 5G technology is being adopted all over the world, work on 6G has also accelerated. Finally, China has started working to test 6G wireless network capabilities. It announced that it stepped into 6G technology with a satellite specially designed for the next generation communication network.

China Mobile, China’s largest mobile network operator, said in its latest statement that they have started testing 6G technology. It announced that the satellite launched by the Long March 2D rocket successfully entered orbit. Accordingly, the test satellite will provide 6G network architecture and technology in low Earth orbit.

Thus, China became the first country to send a satellite into space for 6G tests. The satellite was developed by China Mobile and the Microsatellite Academy of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Researchers announced that they used completely domestic technologies in the development of the satellite.

Redmi A3 specs leaked with Helio G36 SoC

Xiaomi's sub-brand Redmi is preparing to launch its upcoming affordable smartphone, the Redmi A3, and the specs of the phone leaked...

It should be reminded that China sent a research satellite for 6G about four years ago. However, this satellite had no purpose to test 6G technology. The test satellite launched recently means that the country will break new ground.

Unlike previous satellites that focused on improving 5G coverage, this satellite will enable basic 6G technologies such as terahertz communication from space. Terahertz frequencies are known for delivering multi-terabit per second data rates, well above today’s fastest 5G networks.

The autonomous 6G architecture on the satellite will allow flexible deployment of network functions. This will make the satellite network both reliable and efficient. Let’s see what the satellite, which is hundreds of kilometers above the Earth, will bring.
